Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Ratliff (ranked 7669 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaw Allan (ranked 5941 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw Allan will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Danny Ratliff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shaw Allan!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Ratliff or perhaps it was just good defense by Allan, which made it look bad.

Ratliff looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Allan is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Ratliff is looking for a kimura here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allan trying to hold on to Ratliff's head to control him but Ratliff postures up.

Ratliff is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Allan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Allan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Allan is looking to sweep but instead, Ratliff has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Allan actively working from the bottom here.
Allan is looking for a sweep. Ratliff is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ratliff slips a nice elbow through Allan's hands, connecting with Allan's forehead.
Ratliff missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Ratliff is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Allan defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Ratliff wants to stand but Allan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Allan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ratliff trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Allan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ratliff's head.
Ratliff wants to sweep here but Allan controlling him for the moment.
Ratliff not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Allan stops Ratliff from standing up.
Allan trying to control the position from guard on top but Ratliff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Allan has managed to clinch.

Allan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ratliff misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It seemed like Allan was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Ratliff drives through with a takedown into guard.

Allan manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Ratliff is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ratliff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw Allan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Allan moves into the clinch successfully.
Allan fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Ratliff breaks the clinch.
Allan tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ratliff is able to avoid easily.

Allan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Allan wants to break the clinch but can't.

Ratliff escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Allan throws a sloppy head kick and Ratliff moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ratliff tries to clinch but Allan moves away

and Allan counters with a shoot takedown. Ratliff fights it but they end up in guard.
Ratliff is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ratliff manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Ratliff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Danny Ratliff is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Allan gets a clinch.

Ratliff gets control of Allan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ratliff will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Allan trying to control the position from guard on top but Ratliff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ratliff has momentary wrist control but Allan slips an elbow through the middle.

Ratliff has his feet on Allan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Ratliff gets caught napping as Allan dives in and scores a takedown. Ratliff manages to retain guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Allan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Allan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ratliff is trying to control the position but Allan postures up.
Ratliff is looking to sweep but instead, Allan has passed into half guard.
Ratliff is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Allan scores with a couple of nice shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ratliff has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Allan is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ratliff is looking to get back to full guard here but Allan has managed to pass to side control instead.
Allan is looking to take a break and control but Ratliff is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Allan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ratliff haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
You can see the frustration on Ratliff's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ratliff is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Allan wants to stand but Ratliff is controlling his arm.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Allan avoids the strikes from the bottom by Ratliff.
Allan looking to control but instead Ratliff has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Ratliff might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Allan is pressing down on Ratliff's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ratliff is holding on for now.
Allan trying to control from half guard but Ratliff is working away.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Allan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ratliff on his heels. He'll look to pass Ratliff's guard now, I'm sure.
Allan won't allow Ratliff to sweep him here.
Ratliff is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw Allan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Allan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ratliff, pushing him back against the cage.

Shaw Allan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ratliff avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ratliff went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Allan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Allan wants it to stay on the feet.

Allan decides to stand back up.

Allan shoots in and bounces Ratliff off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Ratliff manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Ratliff tries to pull guard but Allan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Allan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Allan can't break the clinch.
Ratliff fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Ratliff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Allan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Allan jumps into guard, dragging Ratliff to the mat.
Ratliff tries to stand but Allan is controlling from the bottom.

Allan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ratliff is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Allan.

Ratliff is trying to get an arm triangle but Allan is defending well.
Allan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Allan regains half guard.
Allan is looking to improve his position.

Ratliff is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Allan is looking to control Ratliff's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Allan avoid being mounted?

Ratliff is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Allan sees it coming and defends easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Allan gets full guard.

Shaw Allan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Allan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
