The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Halonen both land. Nice combination.
Mokhtarian throws a leg kick

and Halonen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Halonen.
Halonen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Halonen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Halonen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mokhtarian for as long as he can get away with.

Halonen decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Trashcan Mokhtarian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Halonen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mokhtarian napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mokhtarian is looking to get back to his feet here but Halonen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mokhtarian's back.
Halonen is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Halonen lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Halonen.
Halonen slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Halonen is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Mokhtarian has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Halonen has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Mokhtarian taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Halonen doesn't care though - he's delighted!
