Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ibbe Ribbler (ranked 4096 p4p, 395 weight class) and Nicholas Tessier (ranked 2308 p4p, 240 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ribbler might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Smash Mouth - All Star. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ibbe Ribbler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nicholas Tessier!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tessier misses with a wild body shot.
Tessier is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A slow jab from Tessier misses its intended target.
Ribbler keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tessier.
Tessier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ribbler manages to avoid it.
Tessier misses the shot to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Ribbler has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ribbler throws a series of punches but Tessier moves out of range.
Tessier swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Ibbe Ribbler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tessier's coach down at Russian Bears Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tessier's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Tessier fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tessier throws a looping overhand right but Ribbler ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tessier takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Ribbler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ribbler lands a nice short elbow.
Tessier tries to get to full guard but Ribbler has control of the leg.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tessier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribbler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ribbler connects with a nice short shot to Tessier's temple.

Ribbler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tessier sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tessier is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ribbler scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ribbler seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ribbler is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Ribbler sends Tessier crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Ribbler is motioning to the referee to let Tessier up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
