Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stanford Mccoy (ranked 8971 p4p, 0 weight class) and Higo Higa (ranked 7610 p4p, 0 weight class). Higo Higa looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mccoy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Higa tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mccoy is in Higa's guard.

Higa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mccoy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Higa.

Mccoy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mccoy decides to stand back up.
Mccoy shoots for a takedown but Higa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mccoy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mccoy lands in his opponent's guard.

Higa is trying to hold Mccoy in close to prevent damage but Mccoy has managed to pass into half guard.

Mccoy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Higa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mccoy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Higa tries to get to full guard but Mccoy has control of the leg.
Mccoy tries to stand and escape but Higa actually recovers to full guard.

Mccoy drops back, looking for a kneebar! Higa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Higa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Higa!

Mccoy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Higa stands up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Higa throws a leg kick which misses Mccoy's front leg but catches the back leg as Mccoy tries to avoid it.
Higa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mccoy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Higa tries to clinch up but Mccoy circles away and keeps his distance.
Mccoy swats away the attempt to clinch by Higa.

That was a close round but I would say that Stanford Mccoy will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mccoy throws a punch but it's blocked by Higa.
Higa tries a knee to the head but Mccoy blocks it.

Higa tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mccoy avoids it.

Higa turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Higa manages to end up in side control.

We've been informed that Higa has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Higa goes for an armbar but Mccoy turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mccoy.
Higa is breathing heavily.
Mccoy connects with a couple of short punches.

Mccoy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Higa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mccoy has Higa in his guard.

Mccoy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Higa doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mccoy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mccoy wants to work for an arm triangle but Higa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Higa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Higa tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Higa sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

A close second round but Higo Higa will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Mccoy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Higa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mccoy up against the cage.

Higa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Higa gets to his feet. Mccoy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Higa tries a knee to the head but Mccoy blocks it.

A left hand lands to the body for Mccoy.

Mccoy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Higa throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mccoy on the side of the head.

Mccoy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Higa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Higa wants to stand and escape but Mccoy is having none of it.
Higa is looking to sweep but instead, Mccoy has passed into half guard.
Higa has hold of Mccoy's hands but Mccoy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Higa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mccoy scores with a couple of nice shots.

Mccoy is trying to control. Higa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mccoy stands up and waves to Higa to follow him.

Mccoy closes the distance and clinches up with Higa, looking for a takedown. Mccoy pushes Higa against the cage but Higa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Higa is working an open guard so Mccoy takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Higo Higa.
