Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michel Cook (ranked 25201 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yamato Takuya (ranked 6246 p4p, 657 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michel Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yamato Takuya!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Cook closes the distance and clinches up with Takuya, looking for a takedown. Cook pushes Takuya against the cage but Takuya circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Takuya drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Takuya is fighting to break Cook's control of his arms but Cook is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Takuya controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cook wants to sweep but no luck.

Takuya controlling from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Takuya advances position into side control!
Takuya remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cook tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cook trying to remain calm as Takuya controls from the top position.
Cook wants to control but Takuya postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takuya staying calm.
Takuya wants to control but Cook is keeping him busy.

Takuya is staying tight to Cook's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Cook tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Takuya wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cook really is a fat lump.
Takuya is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cook's shoulder. That is not cool.
Cook is trying to control Takuya's posture but Takuya avoids it.
Cook is looking for a sweep.
Takuya controlling the position.
Takuya's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cook manages to work his way to half guard, despite Takuya's best efforts.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cook is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Takuya pulls his head out easily.
Takuya wants to pass to mount but Cook is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!



Cook gets caught flat footed, as Takuya shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Takuya engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Takuya pushing down on Cook's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cook looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

More stalling from Takuya.
Takuya with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
Takuya tries to pass to full mount but Cook defends it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Takuya slows the pace down in half guard.
Takuya has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Takuya is continuing to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Takuya gets a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Takuya is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Yamato Takuya has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cook is in trouble now - Takuya has advanced to mount!
Cook gets back to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Takuya in particular looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The adventures of Takuya the control monster continue. Boring.
Cook trying to hold on to Takuya's head to control him but Takuya postures up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Takuya is looking to advance position but Cook won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yamato Takuya showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Takuya dives in and scores a takedown into Cook's guard.
Cook keeping moving, preventing Takuya from controlling successfully.

Takuya passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Let's hope that Takuya has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Cook manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
It looks like Cook is going to stand back up.

Takuya pushes Cook off and gets back to his feet.
Yamato Takuya is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cook shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takuya sprawls well. Takuya wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cook gets slowly back to his feet.
Takuya feints the counter takedown.

Takuya shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cook napping and manages to drive through into side control!

You can see the frustration on Cook's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Takuya is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cook will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Takuya.

Cook tries to buck Takuya off but Takuya is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yamato Takuya comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Takuya has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
