Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Benito Morin (ranked 8933 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Castro (ranked 6104 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Castro told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro connects with a body shot.
Castro falls off balance throwing a combination
and Castro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Morin takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Morin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Castro lands with an overhand left.
Morin keeps the fight on the outside.
A counter left hand to the body from Morin misses its target.
Joe Castro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Castro goes for a double leg but Morin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Morin continues to drive forward.
Morin tries to counter by clinching up but Castro breaks away and moves out of range.
Castro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looked like Morin wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Morin clinches up with Castro and pushes him back against the cage.
Castro pulls guard effortlessly.
Morin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Castro, up you get!

Castro drops back, looking for a kneebar! Morin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Morin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Morin!
Castro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Castro tries to bench press Morin off him but Morin keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Castro is trying to get back to his feet.
Morin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

I really don't envy Morin right now.

Castro is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Morin defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Morin is in a bad position with Castro working for a choke. Morin manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Morin gets to his feet - Castro follows without any prompting.

As Castro tries to get set, Morin tries to push him back and clinch up but Castro manages to avoid the attempt.

Castro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Morin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Morin wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Castro has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Morin's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Morin is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Castro!
