The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rondeau fails to land with a series of punches.

It looks like Jacare Gracie has been cut.
Rondeau missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gracie tries to counter with a clinch but Rondeau shakes him off and moves away.
Gracie slips a straight right by Rondeau.
Rondeau misses with an uppercut.
Rondeau misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Rondeau throws a left and a right that both miss

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Rondeau defends it.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Rondeau is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rondeau does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rondeau is looking to escape.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Rondeau is defending it quite comfortably.
Rondeau avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.
Gracie wants to take a breather but Rondeau is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
