PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Manzo (ranked 9527 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fcuk Cancer (ranked 6434 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Fcuk Cancer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Francesco Manzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fcuk Cancer!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cancer rushes Manzo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cancer comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Francesco Manzo has been cut.
Manzo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Manzo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Manzo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Manzo wants to sweep but no luck.
Manzo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cancer manages to get himself to full guard.

Manzo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manzo won't allow Cancer to get back to his feet.
Cancer thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Manzo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Manzo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Cancer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Manzo is one step ahead there.
Cancer is looking to stand up but Manzo isn't so interested in that idea.

Manzo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cancer for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cancer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Manzo is one step ahead there.
Manzo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Manzo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cancer sprawls well. Cancer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Manzo gets slowly back to his feet.

Manzo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cancer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Manzo is controlling him.

Manzo advances to half guard.
Manzo is taking a breather. Cancer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Manzo in particular looking to stall.
Manzo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Manzo connects with a nice short shot to Cancer's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cancer is trying to escape back to his feet but Manzo uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Manzo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Cancer takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Manzo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cancer looks for a takedown but Manzo sprawls well.
Francesco Manzo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cancer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Manzo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cancer moves in looking to clinch but Manzo pushes him off.
Manzo shoots in for a takedown but Cancer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Manzo jumps guard but Cancer stands there with Manzo around his waist. Manzo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cancer pushes Manzo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Cancer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Come on Cancer - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cancer's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jeez, Francesco Manzo's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Cancer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Manzo's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Oh Manzo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
