PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 6842 p4p, 661 weight class) and Quinn Helix (ranked 5070 p4p, 568 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Quinn Helix!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helix dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Helix throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jones throws a head kick but Helix moves out of range.
Helix uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Helix moves into range and connects with a jab.

Helix has managed to clinch.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Helix smiles and moves away.
Helix lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Helix scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Helix's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Jones tries to circle away but Helix has him pinned against the cage.
Helix misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Jones is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Helix can't fight it off and eventually Jones manages to take the fight to the floor. Helix looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Helix keeps moving.

Helix utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Helix is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Helix avoid being mounted?
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Helix throws a shot to the body.
Helix avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've been informed that Helix has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Helix leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Helix misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Helix pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Quinn Helix will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jones looking for a takedown.
Jones is trying to push Helix away but Helix has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Helix walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Helix dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Helix cracks Jones with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Helix has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Helix ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Helix is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Jones rather than just go for the knockout.

Helix's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Helix fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jones looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Jones drops his hands momentarily and Helix takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Helix wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Helix lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Quinn Helix showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
