PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lauren Hunt (ranked 24824 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Wright (ranked 6193 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lauren Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Wright!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wright closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wright tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wright has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hunt sneaks out the side door and pushes Wright away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Wright moves into the clinch.
Hunt tries to stall but Wright uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hunt.

Wright manages to break the clinch.

Wright feints and as Hunt raises his hands in defense, Wright changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wright tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunt is retaining full guard.
Hunt keeping moving, preventing Wright from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright cracks Hunt with a solid left hand.
Wright wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position.

Hunt looking for subs off his back but Wright has passed one foot through into half guard.
Wright is controlling the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Wright stands up from half guard.

Hunt gets tackled into the cage by Wright. Wright maintains the clinch.

Hunt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hunt blocks a low kick nicely.
Hunt appears to be looking for a big counter.
Tony Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright shoots in for a takedown but Hunt shows good takedown defense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright stuffs the takedown.
Wright with a poor takedown
and Hunt counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hunt fails with an attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Hunt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hunt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wright looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hunt sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Wright throws a head kick that misses.

Wright fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hunt, pushing him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wright pulls guard successfully.

Wright throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Wright looks winded!
Wright wants to sweep but no luck.
Hunt distracts Wright with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Wright trying to keep a closed guard but Hunt is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wright is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hunt presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wright is trying to maintain a safe position but Hunt gets an underhook and turns Wright into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Wright dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Wright drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wright trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wright is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hunt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hunt has escaped and now he's on top!

Hunt lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hunt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Wright pushes a forearm under Hunt's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hunt is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
