Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jimi Kuala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Giacomo Zappacosta!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zappacosta comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kuala moves away from the strike by Zappacosta.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zappacosta. Kuala does a little dance to reset his feet.
As Zappacosta looks to move away, Kuala throws a big counter combo but Zappacosta just gets out of the way.
Kuala drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Zappacosta lands a jab-cross combination.
Zappacosta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Zappacosta digs a good hook to Kuala's body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kuala's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zappacosta connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kuala scrambles back to his feet.

Kuala gets tackled into the cage by Zappacosta. Zappacosta maintains the clinch.
Kuala is looking to take this one to the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Zappacosta.

Kuala has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Zappacosta regains guard immediately.
Kuala engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Zappacosta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kuala. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kuala definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kuala is pushing down on Zappacosta's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zappacosta is fighting to maintain full guard but Kuala has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kuala maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Zappacosta could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Kuala has cracked it and Zappacosta is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Kuala!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jimi Kuala!
