Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean Ponce (ranked 6375 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dd Dd (ranked 6261 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jean Ponce has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ponce could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ponce moves away from the strike by Dd.

Dd feints and as Ponce raises his hands in defense, Dd changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ponce controls Dd momentarily but Dd frees himself.
Dd tries to free his leg and advance position but Ponce is retaining full guard.
Dd prevents Ponce from getting back to his feet.

Dd drops back looking for a leg! Ponce is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ponce manages to kick Dd off! Dd jumps back into Ponce's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dd stands and throws Ponce's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ponce is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dd is controlling him well.

Dd wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ponce, who protects the arm well.

Dd is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ponce knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dd is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ponce defends it well.
Dd is pressing down on Ponce's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ponce is holding on for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ponce is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ponce is in trouble now - Dd has advanced to mount!

Dd is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ponce is surviving well by controlling Dd's body position as best he can.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ponce lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dd has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dd and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ponce's corner calls for a 1-2. Ponce obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ponce bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dd's head backwards.

Ponce looks to land a body kick but Dd moved away.
Ponce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ponce lunges at Dd with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Dd's hand.

and Dd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ponce is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dd presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dd works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Dd postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ponce is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dd, into his guard.

Dd is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Dd wants to hit a switch here but Ponce passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dd there!
Dd is looking to improve his position but Ponce isn't that keen on the idea.
Dd sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Dd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Dd is pressing down on Ponce's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dd wants to sweep but no luck.
Ponce tries to stand but Dd is controlling from the bottom.

Ponce wants to get up but he can't break Dd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
