PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Azar Qasi (ranked 996 p4p, 155 weight class) and Peaky Blinder (ranked 3952 p4p, 486 weight class). Qasi comes to the cage accompanied by For Whom The Bell Tolls. Blinder has chosen Dave not Dave - Cold blood as his entrance music. Azar Qasi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peaky Blinder!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blinder shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Qasi is looking for a sweep. Blinder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Qasi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Blinder wants to control from the top but Qasi keeps moving.
Blinder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Qasi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blinder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blinder has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Qasi is proving hard to escape from.

Qasi has his foot on Blinder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blinder works his way back into a safe position though.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qasi is on top in guard.

Blinder tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Qasi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A looping hook to the body misses from Qasi. Blinder does a little dance to reset his feet.
Blinder tries to land a front kick but Qasi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Qasi throws a leg kick which misses Blinder's front leg but catches the back leg as Blinder tries to avoid it.

Blinder has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blinder there as he acknowledges the shot.

Blinder takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Qasi, as that shot connected.
Qasi thuds a left hand into Blinder's body.
Qasi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Blinder shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Qasi but Qasi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fighters circling - Qasi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Blinder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Qasi seems to be looking for submissions.

Qasi is looking for a kimura but Blinder is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Qasi to get the leverage.
Qasi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Qasi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Blinder is defending well though. Qasi let's go of the attempt for now.

Qasi feints and then cracks Blinder's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Blinder down.

Qasi lands a really nice looking cross but Blinder seems unphased.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Blinder lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Qasi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Qasi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
