Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Avila Alvarez (ranked 3039 p4p, 411 weight class) and Martinez Eluard (ranked 1872 p4p, 273 weight class). Alvarez's entrance music is Barbarian by The Darkness. A fine choice. Martinez Eluard acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Alvarez.
Eluard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Eluard showed some decent athleticism there.

Alvarez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Eluard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Eluard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alvarez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Eluard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alvarez pinned against the cage. Alvarez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Eluard enables Alvarez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Eluard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Eluard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alvarez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Eluard has managed to get both his arms back between Alvarez's legs - danger averted.

Eluard uses his free foot to push down on Alvarez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alvarez.
Eluard can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alvarez is looking to escape.
Eluard is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Eluard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Eluard has control of Alvarez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alvarez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well, with Eluard on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Alvarez is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Eluard is working for a rear naked choke. Alvarez is not defending it well and Eluard has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Alvarez refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Alvarez's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

After winning the bout, Martinez Eluard thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
