Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julian Combs (ranked 25095 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leighton Davis (ranked 5480 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Julian Combs has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leighton Davis!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Combs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side.

Combs clinches with his opponent.
Davis controlling the action here for a moment.
Davis stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Combs's elbow.
Davis effectively controlling the action here.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Davis takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Leighton Davis.

Davis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As Davis tries to get set, Combs tries to push him back and clinch up but Davis manages to avoid the attempt.

Combs gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Davis tightens his grip and picks Combs up, before dumping him to the ground. Combs manages to land in guard.
Davis won't allow Combs to get back to his feet.
Combs wants to sweep but no luck.
Combs is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.
Davis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Combs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Combs controls Davis momentarily but Davis frees himself.
Combs wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Leighton Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Combs instigates a clinch.

Combs has had enough of the clinch but Davis keeps him there for the moment.

Combs is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Davis is keeping busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like Davis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

and Combs counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Davis wants the takedown. Combs is fighting it off but Davis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Combs's guard against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Davis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Combs wants to sweep but no luck.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Combs looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Davis puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Davis is controlling the pace.
Combs is trying to stand up here but Davis is controlling him well.
Well, if Davis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Combs kicks Davis off and gets back to his feet.

Combs has a hand on Davis's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Davis takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Leighton Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Davis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davis connects with a nice short shot to Combs's temple.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Davis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Combs has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davis is working away from the top position though.

Combs flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Davis is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
