Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bucky Henderson (ranked 5472 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rodd (ranked 25547 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bucky Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Rodd!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Henderson clinches up with Rodd and pushes him back against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Henderson.
Rodd wants to get back to striking at distance but Henderson won't allow it.

Henderson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Henderson manages to end up in side control.
Rodd is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Henderson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Henderson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Henderson prevents Rodd from escaping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Henderson cracks Rodd with a big right hand but Rodd just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Henderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Check out the look on Henderson's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The referee asks Henderson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Henderson prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Henderson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Rodd is trying to escape and Henderson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Rodd is forced to tap! Nice work there by Henderson! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bucky Henderson!
