Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wilhelm Strauss (ranked 565 p4p, 93 weight class) and Edvard Grieg (ranked 1866 p4p, 284 weight class). Strauss comes to the cage accompanied by Root Of All Evil. Grieg has chosen In the Hall of the Mountain King as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edvard Grieg!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strauss dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Grieg. That did some damage!
Strauss jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Grieg misses with a head kick.
A low kick from Grieg is predictable there
and Strauss cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Grieg cracks Strauss with a good jab.
Grieg takes a swing at Strauss's ribcage but misses.
Grieg slips a straight right by Strauss.
Strauss dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Strauss loads up on a big right hand but Grieg slips the punch.

Grieg shoots in looking for a takedown but Strauss manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Grieg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Edvard Grieg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As Grieg looks to move away, Strauss throws a big counter combo but Grieg just gets out of the way.

Grieg looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Strauss with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Grieg wants to take a breather but Strauss is having none of it.

Grieg is stalling here. Strauss is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Grieg seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Strauss has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Strauss is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Grieg can do to turn this around?

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wilhelm Strauss.
Well Strauss has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
