Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walton Pearson (ranked 25276 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Abedayo (ranked 6407 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Walton Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Abedayo!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abedayo has closed the distance and engaged Pearson in a clinch.

Abedayo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Abedayo takes a little break here. Pearson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Pearson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Abedayo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Pearson to get to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pearson enables Abedayo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pearson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abedayo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Abedayo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Abedayo gets to his feet. Pearson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Pearson closes the distance and clinches up with Abedayo, looking for a takedown. Pearson pushes Abedayo against the cage but Abedayo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pearson is working for takedown but Abedayo is calmly controlling the position for now.

Pearson tries to stall but Abedayo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Pearson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Abedayo has him pressed against the cage.

Abedayo jumps guard and drags Pearson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pearson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Abedayo pulls Pearson in close to prevent any damage.

Abedayo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pearson is one step ahead there.
Pearson is fighting to break Abedayo's control of his arms but Abedayo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Abedayo throws his legs up looking for a submission but Pearson uses it to pass to side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pearson tries for a kimura but Abedayo is defending well.
Pearson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Abedayo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pearson off and has taken his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pearson is having to fend off submission attempts from Abedayo, who is looking to sink in the choke. Abedayo doesn't have the hooks in though and Pearson manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Abedayo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pearson did well to prevent Abedayo getting side control.

Pearson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Abedayo has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Pearson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Abedayo pulls guard effortlessly.
Abedayo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pearson's guard.

Abedayo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Abedayo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pearson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Abedayo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Pearson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Abedayo throws a head kick but Pearson moves out of range.

Pearson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Abedayo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Abedayo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Abedayo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Abedayo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Abedayo throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Pearson because Abedayo loaded up on that one.

Pearson gets tackled into the cage by Abedayo. Abedayo maintains the clinch.

Pearson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Abedayo throws a series of punches but Pearson moves out of range.
Abedayo throws a right hand that Pearson ducks under and follows up with a left that Pearson also avoids with ease.

Abedayo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pearson quickly recovers to half guard.

Abedayo is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Pearson avoids a series of strikes thrown by Abedayo.
Abedayo controlling the position easily from mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pearson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Abedayo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Abedayo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pearson turns into him and now he's in Abedayo's guard.
Abedayo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pearson manages to get himself to full guard.


Abedayo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pearson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abedayo has managed to get both his arms back between Pearson's legs - danger averted.

Abedayo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pearson tries to sprawl but Abedayo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Abedayo is controlling the pace.

Abedayo tries to pass to full mount but Pearson defends it.
Abedayo lands strikes from half guard.

Abedayo seems to be working for a kimura but Pearson defends the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Abedayo lands a nice short elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sam Abedayo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abedayo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Sam Abedayo misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
