Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zander Harland!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles fails with a takedown attempt.
Charles looks to score with a jab to the body but Harland is just out of range.
Harland shoots for a double leg takedown but Charles sprawls well. He's pushed Harland's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Harland gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Charles looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Harland won't allow Charles to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harland throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Charles has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Harland is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Charles.

Harland tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harland has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Charles is working to avoid the ground and pound but Harland connects with a decent elbow.
Harland has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harland lands a nice forearm strike.

Harland thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

You can see the frustration on Charles's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Charles is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harland lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.


Charles is rocked!
Harland in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Charles looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Harland turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zander Harland!
After winning the bout, Zander Harland thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
