Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kristoph Gavin (ranked 6517 p4p, 704 weight class) and Master Oogway (ranked 6274 p4p, 697 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kristoph Gavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Master Oogway!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gavin slaps away a takedown attempt from Oogway, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Oogway throws a sloppy head kick
and Gavin counters with a thumping low kick.
Oogway scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oogway circles away.
Oogway changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Oogway slips a jab and a cross from Gavin.
Gavin throws a nice head kick!
Oogway stuffs the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oogway has Gavin up against the cage in a clinch.
Oogway wants a takedown.
Oogway wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gavin breaks from the clinch.
Gavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oogway circles away.

Gavin tries a head kick but it misses.
Oogway shoots in for a takedown but Gavin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Oogway lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Gavin backwards.
Gavin lands a nice knee to the body.
Gavin jumps guard but Oogway stands there with Gavin around his waist. Gavin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Oogway has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Oogway is working for takedown but Gavin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gavin tries to pull guard but Oogway forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Oogway wants to break free but Gavin has control.

Oogway is pushing Gavin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Oogway tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Oogway ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Oogway no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gavin is looking to stand up but Oogway won't let him.
Gavin postures up.
Gavin won't allow Oogway to sweep him here.

Gavin is thwarting Oogway's attempts to control the position.
Oogway is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Gavin is staying active.

Oogway is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gavin is controlling him.

Oogway is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Oogway keeping moving, preventing Gavin from controlling successfully.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sloppy strikes from Gavin. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Oogway fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Oogway shoots in but Gavin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kristoph Gavin will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Oogway throws a series of punches but Gavin moves out of range.
Gavin appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Oogway tries to clinch but Gavin moves away
and Gavin counters with a left and a right that stings Oogway.
Gavin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oogway circles away.
Oogway has his takedown stuffed
and Gavin counters with a big head kick but Oogway shrugs it off.
Oogway shoots for a double leg takedown but Gavin sprawls well. He's pushed Oogway's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Oogway throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gavin's waist but Gavin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Oogway off to one side.
Kristoph Gavin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Master Oogway.
Gavin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Oogway tries to clinch up.
Gavin appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Oogway ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gavin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gavin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Gavin shoots in but no luck this time.

Oogway tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gavin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gavin throws a quick counter head kick but Oogway was just out of range.

Gavin rushes Oogway and presses him up against the cage.
Oogway prevents the takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gavin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Oogway pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Oogway misses with a knee to the head.

Gavin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oogway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gavin tries to avoid it but Oogway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gavin to the ground. Gavin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gavin feinted with a counter takedown.
Oogway dives in for a single leg takedown but Gavin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Gavin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oogway can do to turn this around?

Oogway is trying to keep Gavin in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Oogway is on top in guard.

Gavin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Oogway seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Oogway slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gavin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The strikes coming from Oogway are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Oogway has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Gavin keeps the fight on the outside.
Oogway shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gavin sprawls well. Gavin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Oogway gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kristoph Gavin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gavin keeps control of Oogway as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Oogway is looking to take this one to the mat.
Gavin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Oogway can't break the clinch.
Gavin avoiding damage as Oogway throws knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gavin gets underhooks to prevent Oogway's takedown attempt.
Gavin has Oogway pushed against the cage.
Gavin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Oogway is looking for a takedown.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Oogway wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gavin tries to work over Oogway's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gavin breaks from the clinch.
Gavin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gavin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Oogway avoids it really well and circles away.
Gavin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Oogway.
Gavin throws a series of punches but Oogway moves out of range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gavin slaps away a takedown attempt from Oogway, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Oogway throws a looping overhand right but Gavin ducks down to avoid it.
Gavin is looking to counter with head kicks.

Oogway takes the fight into the clinch.
Gavin looking to throw knees to the head but Oogway is blocking nicely.

Gavin breaks from the clinch.

Oogway closes the distance and clinches.

Oogway jumps guard.
Gavin trying to control the position from guard on top but Oogway is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oogway wants to sweep here but Gavin controlling him for the moment.
Oogway controls Gavin momentarily but Gavin frees himself.

Oogway has his foot on Gavin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gavin works his way back into a safe position though.
Oogway wants to stand up but Gavin is controlling him.

Gavin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oogway has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gavin has managed to get both his arms back between Oogway's legs - danger averted.
Oogway not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gavin dives in and grabs Oogway's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oogway pushes down on Gavin's head and hops out.
Kristoph Gavin is winning the standup battle so far.
Oogway shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gavin but Gavin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kristoph Gavin.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gavin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
