The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crespo throws a hook but Smith blocks it.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Smith misses the target.
Crespo misses the shot to the body.
Nice defenses there by Smith.
Crespo has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Smith moves into range and connects with a jab.
Crespo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Crespo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.

Smith drives through and clinches with Crespo against the cage.
Smith goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Crespo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Smith is trying to break the clinch but Crespo has him pressed against the cage.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Crespo takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smith throws the left hand but Crespo avoids the punch easily.
Crespo keeps the fight on the outside.
A punch lands to the side of Smith 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The fighters circle momentarily. Crespo darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Crespo lands with a cross.
We've been hearing reports that Crespo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Smith connects with an inside leg kick.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Crespo misses with a straight left.
George Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Crespo tries to counter with a takedown but Smith is quick to defend against it.
Smith connects with a leg kick. Crespo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Smith is looking for a triangle but Crespo pushes his legs off easily.
Smith controls Crespo momentarily but Crespo frees himself.
Crespo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face as Crespo controls the position.

Crespo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Smith is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Crespo yanks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Crespo.
