The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Westfield Jr waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Birch.
Birch doesn't manage to clinch there - Westfield Jr circles away.
A slow jab from Westfield Jr misses its intended target.
The fight stays on the outside here - Birch looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Birch moves into the clinch successfully.
Westfield Jr is trying to push Birch away but Birch has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Birch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Birch walks into a left hand.

It looks like Bert Birch has been cut.
Birch slips under a jab.
Bert Birch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Westfield Jr throws a body punch but Birch moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Birch tries to clinch up but Westfield Jr circles away and keeps his distance.

Birch tries to close the distance and clinch but Westfield Jr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Westfield Jr throws a hook to the side of Birch's head but Birch sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Westfield Jr counters with a crisp right hand that drops Birch! Westfield Jr lets Birch back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Birch is rocked!
Birch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Westfield Jr.
Oh Birch is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Birch tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Westfield Jr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Birch switches off momentarily and Westfield Jr cracks him with a monster right hand! Birch topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Westfield Jr dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Westfield Jr!
