Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lynn Valdez (ranked 25624 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vergil Reynaldi (ranked 6421 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Lynn Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vergil Reynaldi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Reynaldi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Valdez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Reynaldi pushes Valdez up against the cage in a clinch.
Valdez has had enough of the clinch but Reynaldi keeps him there for the moment.
Valdez can't break the clinch.
Reynaldi wants to get back to striking at distance but Valdez won't allow it.

Reynaldi manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Valdez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Reynaldi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Valdez connects with a decent elbow.
Valdez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Valdez misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Reynaldi is looking for a sweep.
Valdez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Reynaldi is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Reynaldi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valdez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Reynaldi has his foot on Valdez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Valdez works his way back into a safe position though.
Reynaldi is looking to sweep but instead, Valdez has passed into half guard.

Valdez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reynaldi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Valdez is keen to just control but Reynaldi is a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reynaldi tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Valdez counters with a series of strikes. Reynaldi will be more careful next time no doubt.
Vergil Reynaldi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reynaldi wants to control from the top but Valdez keeps moving.
Reynaldi is looking to work some ground and pound but Valdez has wrist control.

Valdez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Reynaldi gets to his feet. Valdez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Valdez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Reynaldi avoids it really well and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Reynaldi has clasped his hands together around Valdez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Valdez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reynaldi pulls his head out easily.

Reynaldi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Valdez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Reynaldi.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Reynaldi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valdez keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Valdez tries for a takedown but Reynaldi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Valdez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reynaldi to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Reynaldi wants to take a breather but Valdez is having none of it.
Reynaldi is stalling here. Valdez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Reynaldi seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Valdez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Reynaldi tries to bench press Valdez off him but Valdez keeps the position.
Reynaldi wants to control but Valdez postures up.
Reynaldi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Valdez wants to control but Reynaldi is keeping him busy.

Reynaldi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Vergil Reynaldi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Valdez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Valdez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Reynaldi swivels and escapes.

Reynaldi drives through and clinches with Valdez against the cage.

Valdez has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Reynaldi is on him like a limpet, forcing Valdez back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Reynaldi's face as he tries to break the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Reynaldi.
With the fighters up against the cage, Reynaldi throws an elbow but misses.

Reynaldi works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Reynaldi distracts Valdez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Reynaldi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Valdez manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Reynaldi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Valdez napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Reynaldi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Reynaldi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Valdez quickly recovers to half guard.

Valdez makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Reynaldi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Valdez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Reynaldi.
Valdez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reynaldi's waist but Reynaldi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valdez off to one side.

Reynaldi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reynaldi taking a break here but Valdez is having none of it and regains half guard.

Reynaldi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Reynaldi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Valdez is wriggling around but Reynaldi manages to pass to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Reynaldi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Reynaldi stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Reynaldi wants to clinch up but Valdez keeps it at a distance.
Reynaldi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reynaldi is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lynn Valdez.
I think Valdez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
