Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Channings (ranked 3393 p4p, 445 weight class) and Rumina Sato (ranked 2480 p4p, 355 weight class). Clayton Channings is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Clayton Channings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rumina Sato!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sato throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Sato jabs Channings to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Channings will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sato's coach down at Hard Knocks Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sato's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Sato jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Donk. Sato catches Channings right on the button with a cross.
Sato misses with a body kick.
Sato swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Sato ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Channings moves away.
Channings fails with a takedown attempt.
Channings looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clayton Channings. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Channings doesn't manage to clinch there - Sato circles away.
Sato lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Channings changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sato looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Channings has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Channings wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sato keeps working.
Channings prevents Sato from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Channings is looking to take a break and control but Sato is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Channings would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Sato has hold of Channings's hands but Channings slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Channings is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sato knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Channings feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sato must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Clayton Channings overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sato sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Channings's guard.

Sato is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Channings defends it well.

Channings quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Sato has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Channings celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

A relieved looking Clayton Channings thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
