Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anton Touchard (ranked 6460 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Rome (ranked 24681 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Touchard fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rome sprawls well initially but Touchard persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Touchard is keen to just control but Rome is a slippery customer.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rome can do anything to dispel that myth.
Touchard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Touchard throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome tries to get to full guard but Touchard has control of the leg.

Touchard feints and as Rome raises his hands in defense, Touchard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Touchard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rome gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rome's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Touchard is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
