PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Pulin (ranked 9738 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Marques (ranked 6581 p4p, 0 weight class). Pulin is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Vladimir Pulin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulin misses with a few strikes there.
Pulin is breathing heavily.
Pulin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marques.
Marques lands a head kick!

Marques instigates a clinch.
Marques stalling.
Marques has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pulin after a bit of a struggle.

Marques successfully pulls guard.
Marques pulls Pulin in to control the position.
Marques throws a couple of heel strikes.
Marques lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marques throws a big right hand that misses.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marques lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Marques closes the distance and clinches up with Pulin, looking for a takedown. Marques pushes Pulin against the cage but Pulin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Marques with that takedown attempt.
Pulin leaves Marques with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Marques is defended easily by Pulin.
Pulin throws a combination. Marques tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marques tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pulin defends well and Marques ends up having to push Pulin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Marques shoots for a takedown but Pulin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lucas Marques will probably get the nod.

Marques tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pulin swivels and escapes.
Pulin appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Marques rushes Pulin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Marques connects with a knee to the head.

Marques breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pulin throws a hook but Marques avoids it easily.

Marques throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pulin's head.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Lucas Marques showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Marques throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pulin's waist but Pulin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marques off to one side.

Marques bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pulin's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lucas Marques comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Marques winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
