The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mason.
Van Rooy cracks Mason with a right hand to the side of the head.
Van Rooy scores with a hook to the body. Mason takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Van Rooy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Van Rooy scores with a sloppy right hand. Mason should have avoided that one.

Mason throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Van Rooy was covering up waiting for the punch and Mason finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Van Rooy is trying to control the position but Mason postures up.
Van Rooy can't keep his opponent in guard - Mason advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mason seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Van Rooy is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard.
Van Rooy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Van Rooy is looking to get back to full guard here but Mason has managed to pass to side control instead.

Mason tries for a kimura but Van Rooy is defending well.

Mason decides to stand back up.
Van Rooy connects with the punch.
Mason seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Mason tries to move into range but Van Rooy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The fighters circle momentarily. Van Rooy darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Van Rooy misses with a straight right.
Mason changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Rooy tries to avoid it but Mason manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Rooy to the ground. Van Rooy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mason takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Van Rooy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Albert Van Rooy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Van Rooy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Van Rooy digs a good hook to Mason's body.
Mason avoids the body shot from Van Rooy.
Van Rooy is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Mason darts in looking for a takedown but Van Rooy gets double underhooks and turns Mason into the cage.
Van Rooy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mason.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. Van Rooy tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Van Rooy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Van Rooy paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Mason counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mason misses with a few strikes there.
Mason wants to clinch.
Mason shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mason avoids the body shot from Van Rooy.
Mason seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Van Rooy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mason manages to avoid it.
Mason uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Van Rooy.
Mason tries to move into range but Van Rooy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Van Rooy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mason's head backwards.

Mason takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Van Rooy misses the shot to the body.
Van Rooy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Van Rooy misses with a lunging right hand

and Mason counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Van Rooy!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mason is working Van Rooy over with some ground and pound from side control.

Mason is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Van Rooy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Van Rooy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mason wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason has hold of Van Rooy's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Van Rooy tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mason cranks the arm and Van Rooy screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Van Rooy, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
