Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 3735 p4p, 353 weight class) and Ansgar Kundsen (ranked 5746 p4p, 502 weight class). Ansgar Kundsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Frankie Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ansgar Kundsen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Kundsen.
Edgar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kundsen circles away.
Kundsen scores with a one two! Edgar had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Edgar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Edgar throws a poor cross that misses
and Kundsen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kundsen cracks Edgar with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kundsen lands with a hook. Edgar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Frankie Edgar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Edgar lands a front kick.
Edgar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Edgar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kundsen has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kundsen throws a jab but it's blocked by Edgar.
Kundsen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Edgar.
Edgar misses with an uppercut
and Kundsen counters with a nice uppercut.

and Edgar counters with a stiff right hand.

Edgar throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kundsen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Edgar thinking.
Edgar dives in for a single leg takedown but Kundsen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Edgar pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kundsen is out of range and Edgar settles back down.

Kundsen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Edgar is looking to improve his position.
Edgar is working hard here to advance position.

Kundsen is keen to just control but Edgar is a slippery customer.

Kundsen wants to work for an arm triangle but Edgar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kundsen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kundsen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kundsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Edgar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Edgar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kundsen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kundsen's back!

Edgar landing with strikes.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kundsen breaks Edgar's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Kundsen is looking to work some ground and pound but Edgar has wrist control.
Kundsen lands a couple of elbows.

Kundsen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Edgar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kundsen has managed to get both his arms back between Edgar's legs - danger averted.
Kundsen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Edgar's head.

Edgar tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Edgar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kundsen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Edgar has his foot on Kundsen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kundsen works his way back into a safe position though.
Kundsen is in close to Edgar's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kundsen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ansgar Kundsen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kundsen scores with a decent looking hook.
Edgar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Frankie Edgar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sloppy strikes from Edgar. Those never looked like landing.
Kundsen sizes up Edgar with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Edgar throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kundsen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Edgar moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kundsen ducks under a wild hook from Edgar.
Kundsen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kundsen stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kundsen punishes Edgar's body with a nice straight punch.
Edgar throws a right hand that misses
and Kundsen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Edgar throws a combination that misses
and Kundsen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Edgar tries for a takedown but Kundsen circles away easily
and Kundsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kundsen fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kundsen has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kundsen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Edgar wants a takedown.

Kundsen pulls guard.

Kundsen pushes a forearm under Edgar's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Edgar is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ansgar Kundsen decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
