The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kirby defends well and Hanan ends up having to push Kirby into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kirby throws a big counter combination but Hanan scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hanan or perhaps it was just good defense by Kirby, which made it look bad.
As Hanan looks to move away, Kirby throws a big counter combo but Hanan just gets out of the way.

Hanan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hanan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kirby slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hanan pushes Kirby off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Kirby counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Kirby tries to close the distance and clinch but Hanan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hanan gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Kirby has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hanan is on him like a limpet, forcing Kirby back against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hanan clinches up with Kirby and pushes him back against the cage.
Kirby is trying to pull guard but Hanan has him pressed against the cage.
Hanan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kirby goes for a takedown attempt but Hanan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Kirby makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

A close round but Abdul Hanan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Kirby's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hanan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hanan shoots in looking for a takedown but Kirby manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hanan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kirby went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hanan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kirby's waist but Kirby gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hanan off to one side.

Hanan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kirby tries to avoid it but Hanan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kirby to the ground. Kirby escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hanan is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kirby can't fight it off and eventually Hanan manages to take the fight to the floor. Kirby looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hanan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kirby looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kirby looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kirby!

Still in the clinch, Hanan scores with a nice short uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Hanan.

and Kirby connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hanan lunges at Kirby with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kirby's hand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kirby is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hanan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kirby to the mat. Kirby regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hanan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hanan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
