PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hank Roy (ranked 1293 p4p, 200 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 1504 p4p, 227 weight class). Roy comes into the arena with Heat of the Moment blaring out of the sound system. Gracie has chosen Jiu Jitsu by Smoke Serpent as his entrance music. Hank Roy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roy scores with a jab to the jaw.
Roy throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gracie on the side of the head.
Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Roy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Roy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Hank Roy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royce Gracie.

Gracie goes for a takedown attempt but Roy pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Roy slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Roy is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gracie is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Roy to the mat. Roy regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Gracie drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Gracie seems to have locked his on tight now - Roy screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Gracie, as he picks up the win!
