The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kortez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pruitt's guard.
Kortez is looking to work some ground and pound but Pruitt has wrist control.
Kortez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Pruitt has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kortez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Pruitt breaks from the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kortez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Pruitt wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kortez manages to pass to side control.

Kortez winds up and cracks Pruitt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kortez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Pruitt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pruitt tries to kick Kortez off but Kortez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kortez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pruitt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kortez .

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kortez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Pruitt tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kortez !
