Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Musashi (ranked 659 p4p, 90 weight class) and Blind Shaman (ranked 497 p4p, 69 weight class). Shaman has chosen Shaman's Dream as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Musashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blind Shaman!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaman checks the leg kick.
Musashi throws a hook but Shaman blocks it.
Musashi digs a good hook to Shaman's body.
Shaman uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Musashi.
Musashi works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Musashi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

letting Shaman counter with a right hand.
Shaman connects with a crisp jab.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shaman.
It looked like Musashi was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Shaman.
Shaman throws a lazy right hand but Musashi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Musashi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Shaman's coach down at Temple of Cloud Warriors-youth was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shaman's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Shaman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Musashi appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Shaman walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Shaman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Musashi moves forwards but Shaman connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Musashi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Musashi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Musashi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shaman is aware though and is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Musashi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shaman defends well.

Shaman is looking to take a break and control but Musashi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Musashi is looking for a sweep. Shaman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaman wants to take a breather but Musashi is having none of it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Shaman content to control rather than advance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shaman scores with the left hand. Musashi knows he should have avoided that one.
Shaman takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Shaman throws a big shot that misses.
Shaman lands a body shot.

Shaman moves into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Musashi fails to land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blind Shaman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Shaman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Musashi napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Shaman decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Musashi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ryu Musashi is winning the standup battle so far.
Musashi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shaman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shaman tests Musashi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Shaman misses with a few strikes there.
Shaman works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Musashi looks to land a left hand but Shaman moved out of range nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shaman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Shaman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Musashi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shaman is able to avoid easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shaman, as that shot connected.
Musashi misses with a low kick.
Shaman looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Shaman might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Musashi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ryu Musashi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Musashi wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
No joy there for Shaman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Musashi lands a nice shot that snaps Shaman's head back.

Shaman throws a hook to the side of Musashi's head but Musashi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Musashi thuds his right hand into Shaman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Shaman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Musashi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Musashi wants to get back to full guard but Shaman has passed into side control.

Musashi is looking for a sweep.
A lull in the action here as Shaman stalls from top position.

Shaman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Musashi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Musashi tries to buck Shaman off but Shaman is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Musashi's face as Shaman controls the position.

Musashi is not content to let Shaman control the position.

Shaman throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Musashi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Shaman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaman is looking to advance position but Musashi won't allow it.
Musashi is trying to control but can't.
Musashi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shaman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Shaman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Musashi is trying to get back to full guard.
Shaman with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Let's hope that Shaman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Shaman content to control rather than advance.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Musashi tries to land a leg kick but Shaman saw it coming and moves away.
Shaman tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Shaman slips a jab from Musashi.
Shaman swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Shaman just misses with a punch to the body.
A cross from Shaman lands.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shaman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Musashi quickly recovers to half guard.
Musashi is not content to let Shaman control the position.
Shaman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

And that's the end of the fight!
Blind Shaman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Shaman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
