Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Washe Lay (ranked 5891 p4p, 508 weight class) and Zaine Barr (ranked 10213 p4p, 645 weight class). Zaine Barr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Washe Lay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zaine Barr!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barr shoots in for a double leg but Lay sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As Barr looks to move away, Lay throws a big counter combo but Barr just gets out of the way.
Lay stalks Barr and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Barr's face. Barr staggers backwards, shaken.
Barr has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Barr shoots and misses
and Lay counters with a big head kick but Barr shrugs it off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Barr.
Washe Lay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zaine Barr.

Lay drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Barr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Barr is trying to keep Lay in close.
Lay has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Barr is proving hard to escape from.

Lay manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Barr on his heels. He'll look to pass Barr's guard now, I'm sure.

Lay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lay has managed to get both his arms back between Barr's legs - danger averted.
Barr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lay looks to land a combination. Barr sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Barr misses with a takedown attempt - Lay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barr avoids it really well and circles away.
Good leg kick by Lay there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lay defends it nicely.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Barr takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Barr is breathing heavily.

Lay shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barr's guard.

Barr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lay manages to get himself to full guard.

Lay wants to control but Barr is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Barr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Barr frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Barr controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lay takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Washe Lay will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
