The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryant tries to score with a low kick but Armstrong moves his leg out of the way.
We've been hearing reports that Bryant has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Bryant keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bryant moves out of range of the strikes.
Armstrong takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Armstrong throws a hook to the side of Bryant's head but Bryant sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Armstrong takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Armstrong wants to clinch
and Bryant counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Armstrong thinking.
No luck for Armstrong with that takedown attempt.
Bryant moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Armstrong tries to clinch up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Armstrong enables Bryant to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Armstrong manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Armstrong wants to hit a switch here but Bryant passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Armstrong there!

Armstrong tries to reverse the position but Bryant maintains control.
Bryant wants to control the pace but Armstrong is squirming around nicely.
Armstrong wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Bryant has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Armstrong has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Bryant has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Armstrong is in real trouble here. Bryant gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Armstrong is tapping out! Bryant wins by rear naked choke!

After the fight, Kobe Bryant was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
