Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Henry (ranked 896 p4p, 110 weight class) and Micah Hays (ranked 1152 p4p, 143 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Micah Hays!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry ducks under a wild hook from Hays.
Hays misses with a head kick.
Henry attempts a counter takedown but Hays avoids it well and moves away.
Henry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hays sprawls well. Hays wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Henry gets slowly back to his feet.

Hays instigates a clinch.
Hays misses with a short punch on the inside.
Henry prevents a body shot from Hays.
Henry is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Hays tries to throw a body punch but Henry avoids it by throwing Hays back against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that Hays has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Hays uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Henry fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hays to the ground. Henry is now in Hays's guard.

Henry has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Henry looks up at the clock and then as Hays takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Henry smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Henry closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hays quickly recovers to half guard.

Hays has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Henry is on him like a limpet, forcing Hays back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Henry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hays can do to turn this around?

Henry drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A lull in the action here.
Hays regains half guard there - taking advantage of Henry's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Henry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hays with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Henry thows a huge punch but Hays dodges it nicely.
John Henry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Henry will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Henry swings wildly with an uppercut but Hays uses good head movement to avoid it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hays creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Henry drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hays pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hays throws a right and a left that Henry avoids nicely.

Henry feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Henry lands a nice short elbow.

Henry is nestled in close to Hays, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hays is refusing to be controlled, as Henry sits in half guard.

Micah Hays has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Henry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Henry is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hays's shoulder. That is not cool.
Henry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hays keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Henry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Henry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
