PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Baltsaros Dellis (ranked 2784 p4p, 317 weight class) and Dj Brown (ranked 3159 p4p, 357 weight class). Dellis comes into the arena with GOJIRA-L'Enfant Sauvage blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Baltsaros Dellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dj Brown!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dellis fails with the takedown
enabling Brown to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Baltsaros Dellis has been cut.
Brown throws a head kick that misses.
Dellis appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Brown misses with a leg kick

and Dellis counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dellis connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dellis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Dellis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brown is looking to stand back up but Dellis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Brown.
Dellis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dellis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Dellis can't control as he wanted to and Brown manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Dellis is pressing down on Brown's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brown is holding on for now.
Dellis is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Dellis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dellis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dellis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dellis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Brown preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Dellis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dj Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dellis manages to avoid it.
Brown throws a hook to the side of Dellis's head but Dellis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dellis tries to counter with a takedown but Brown is quick to defend against it.
Dellis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Brown.
Dellis shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense.

Dellis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Brown tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Dellis manages to move to mount!
Dellis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Brown somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice jab there from Brown.
A chopping leg kick lands by Brown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dellis takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Dellis motions for Brown to come forward. Dellis throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Brown throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dellis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brown doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dj Brown will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Baltsaros Dellis's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Brown connects with a looping right hand.
Dellis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dellis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Brown counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Brown scores with a jab. Dellis acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Brown throws a leg kick

and Dellis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dellis.
Dellis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dellis trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dellis's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Dellis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dellis is stalling in the full guard.
Dellis wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.
Dellis postures up in Brown's guard and throws a big left but Brown blocks it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A head kick from Brown lands but Dellis takes it in his stride.
Dellis throws a body punch but Brown moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dellis missing with a left hand there. Brown was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Brown looks to land a combination but Dellis avoids it well.
Dellis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Dellis misses with a looping left.

Brown drops Dellis with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Dellis looks back up at him and smiles so Brown waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Dellis is rocked!


Baltsaros Dellis's cut is getting worse.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brown lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Dellis out cold! Dellis is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dj Brown!
