The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kornik.

Douglas tries to land a front kick but Kornik steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kornik has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Despite the aggression on Kornik's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Kornik shoots in looking for a takedown. Douglas tries to sprawl out of it but Kornik keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Douglas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
