Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makonouchi Ippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ippo closes the distance and clinches.
Allen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ippo walks away with a smile on his face. Allen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ippo takes the fight into the clinch.
Ippo is pushing Allen up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Ippo breaks from the clinch.
Ippo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Allen is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Ippo drops Allen with a beautiful combination! Allen stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ippo is looking for the KO!

Allen is rocked!

It looks like Bruce Allen has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ippo closes the distance and clinches.
Oh Allen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ippo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ippo dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Allen has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Makonouchi Ippo!
