PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Tsunami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mayo has chosen Super Furry Animals - Golden Retriever as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsunami throws a nice head kick!

Tsunami tries to keep at a distance but Mayo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mayo has Tsunami pressed against the cage, preventing Tsunami from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mayo lands a left hand that snaps the head of Tsunami backwards.

Tsunami checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Johnny Tsunami is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tsunami gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Mayo darts in and clinches Tsunami up against the cage.
Mayo stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Mayo lands a good knee to the midsection. Tsunami won't want to take too many of those.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsunami changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mayo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mayo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Mayo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tsunami gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Chris Mayo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Tsunami stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Johnny Tsunami.
I think Mayo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
