The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Escobar misses its intended target.
Escobar moves in looking to clinch but Rodgers pushes him off.
Rodgers throws a hook but Escobar blocks it.
Nice uppercut lands for Rodgers. That snapped Escobar's head back.

It looks like Braulio Escobar has been cut.
Rodgers just misses with a punch to the body.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Rodgers - that will leave a mark!
Escobar takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A jab from Rodgers finds it's way through Escobar's defenses.

Escobar tries to move into range but Rodgers moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Rodgers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Escobar throws out the jab.

Escobar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A swing and a miss from Rodgers.
Rodgers throws a lazy right hand but Escobar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Escobar is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Rodgers fails to land with a series of punches.
Escobar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Rodgers cracks Escobar with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Rodgers lands a big head kick that sends Escobar tumbling to the mat! Rodgers takes a step backwards and waves Escobar back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That has opened up Braulio Escobar's cut even more.

Rodgers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Escobar is still on wobbly legs! Can Rodgers finish him?
Escobar throws a looping overhand right but Rodgers ducks down to avoid it.
Rodgers scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Escobar doesn't seem bothered though.
Escobar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Escobar seems to have recovered his senses.
We've been informed that Escobar has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Escobar throws a series of punches but Rodgers moves out of range.
Escobar throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rodgers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rodgers comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Rodgers throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Rodgers is looking to counter punch.
Rodgers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rodgers ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Escobar moves away.
Escobar throws a sloppy head kick and Rodgers moves out of range easily.
Escobar takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Rodgers misses with a double jab
and Escobar counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Rodgers takes a swing at Escobar's ribcage but misses.
Escobar swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodgers.

Escobar darts in and clinches Rodgers up against the cage.
Rodgers lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Rodgers is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Escobar is keeping busy.
Escobar blocks an uppercut.

Rodgers lands with a short shot to the head.

Rodgers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Escobar throws a wild hook but Rodgers just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Escobar gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Rodgers raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andy Rodgers!
A very excited looking Andy Rodgers made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
