PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clark Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randall has chosen Jasmine as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Clark Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Joshua Randall!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randall shoots and misses

and Rivers holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rivers tries to pull guard but Randall holds him up against the cage and eventually Rivers drops back down to his feet.

Rivers jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Randall walks away with a smile on his face. Rivers gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clark Rivers. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Randall instigates a clinch.

Rivers gets control of Randall's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rivers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Rivers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Randall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Randall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rivers is looking for a triangle but Randall pushes his legs off easily.
Rivers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Randall defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rivers closes the distance and clinches up with Randall, looking for a takedown. Rivers pushes Randall against the cage but Randall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Randall decides to pull guard.
Randall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Clark Rivers will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Rivers closes the distance and clinches.
Randall is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rivers is defending well for now.
Randall tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rivers just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rivers jumps guard and drags Randall to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rivers lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Randall wants to stand but Rivers is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Randall can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rivers controls the pace.

Rivers looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Rivers is looking for a kimura here.
Randall wants to improve his position but Rivers is controlling well.

Randall makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Randall.

Randall throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Randall has his foot on Rivers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rivers works his way back into a safe position though.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Rivers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rivers scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Rivers showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Randall misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rivers slaps away a takedown attempt from Randall, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Clark Rivers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joshua Randall.

Rivers gets a double leg takedown into Randall's guard.
Randall is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rivers dives into side control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Randall darts in and clinches Rivers up against the cage.

Rivers isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Randall stacks Rivers on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Randall!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rivers is trying to maintain the position but Randall is very close to passing his half guard.
Randall is looking to stall here but Rivers recovers full guard.
Rivers is pulling down on Randall's head to control his posture.

Randall postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Rivers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

I think Rivers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
