Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clark Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Clark Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Smith!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith cracks Rivers with a right hand to the side of the head.


It looks like Clark Rivers has been cut.

Smith darts in and clinches Rivers up against the cage.

Rivers lands a takedown into guard.
Rivers content to stall in guard here.
Rivers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rivers postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Smith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rivers is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Smith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Rivers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Smith wants to hold on but Rivers pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Smith tries to lock up and control but Rivers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Smith is trying to escape the mount.
Rivers looking to control and managing it successfully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith is looking to get to half guard.
Smith is still trying to improve position.
Smith tries to hold on but Rivers pushes him away.

Smith is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Poor strikes thrown by Rivers there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Rivers avoids the attempt from Smith to control.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith tries to hold on but Rivers postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Rivers sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rivers pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

Rivers jumps guard.
Smith trying to control but Rivers is working from the bottom.
Rivers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around?
Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rivers holds on and takes a little breather.

Rivers has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up.

Rivers looking for a sweep. Not yet Rivers, not yet.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Rivers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Smith tries to stand but Rivers is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rivers pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

Rivers pulls Smith into guard.
Clark Rivers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rivers isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smith stacks Rivers on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smith!
Rivers is looking for a sweep.
Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rivers's shoulder. That is not cool.

Smith decides to stand back up. Smith steps back and let's Rivers get back to his feet.

Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rivers to the mat! Rivers manages to get full guard.

Rivers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith is looking to take this one to the mat.

Rivers pulls guard successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rivers's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Smith is looking to advance position but Rivers won't allow it.

Smith looking for a submission but Rivers manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Rivers tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Rivers has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith has Rivers pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Smith closes the distance and pushes Rivers back into the cage.
Rivers scores with a nice hook to the head.

Rivers wants the takedown. Smith is fighting it off but Rivers persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smith's guard against the cage.
Smith is controlling Rivers's posture.
Smith is trying to keep Rivers in close.
Rivers makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith is looking to sweep but instead, Rivers has passed into half guard.
Smith looks like he's trying to stand up.

and Smith counters with a slapping leg kick.

Rivers closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.

Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rivers's head.
Smith wants to stand but Rivers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rivers is on top in guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rivers is now in half guard.
Smith moves into full guard.
Rivers throwing strikes but missing.
Rivers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rivers won't allow Smith to sweep him here.

Smith throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rivers working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clark Rivers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rivers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
