The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Powers.
Powers definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Powers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Carvalho counters with a stiff right hand.
Powers dives in for a single leg takedown but Carvalho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Powers shoots in looking for a takedown. Carvalho tries to sprawl out of it but Powers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carvalho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Carvalho clobbers Powers with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Johnny Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powers fails with the takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Powers tries to clinch but Carvalho moves out of range.

Powers closes the distance and clinches.
Powers is working for takedown but Carvalho is calmly controlling the position for now.
Carvalho manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Powers manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Powers takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Powers takes a jab right on the kisser.
Powers fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carvalho.
Nice sprawl there from Carvalho as Powers shoots in.
Carvalho has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Powers doesn't manage to clinch there - Carvalho circles away.

and Carvalho counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Carvalho dodges the punch combination from Powers.
A countering left hand to the body from Carvalho misses.
Carvalho catches Powers with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Powers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carvalho did well to prevent Powers getting side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are battling for position here. Carvalho manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Powers has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Carvalho to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Powers is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Carvalho pulls down on the head and he's put Powers to sleep! This one is all over!
