PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Strong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Pintos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strong's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Egypt Central - Kick Ass. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Strong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, El Pintos!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strong looks to score with a jab to the body but Pintos is just out of range.
Pintos throws a half hearted mid kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Strong is defended easily by Pintos.
Strong takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Strong throws a hook to the side of Pintos's head but Pintos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Strong takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Mark Strong has been cut.
Pintos takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pintos misses with a jab to the body
and Strong counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Strong keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pintos.
The fighters circling - Pintos throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Strong throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strong blocks a head kick by Pintos.
Pintos tries a head kick but it misses.
Strong misses with a wild body shot.
Strong avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Strong falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pintos makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Strong cracks Pintos with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Strong, as that shot connected.
Strong looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Pintos connects with a good right hand that stumbles Strong. Strong circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Pintos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Strong feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Strong wants to control from the top but Pintos keeps moving.
Strong seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Pintos working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Strong.
Strong scoring with punches to the head and body.
Pintos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pintos is on top in guard.

Pintos wants to get up but he can't break Strong's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Strong looking for a sweep. Not yet Strong, not yet.
Pintos wants to control from the top but Strong keeps moving.
Pintos is looking to work some ground and pound but Strong has wrist control.

Strong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pintos defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strong can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pintos controls the pace.

Pintos content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Strong has locked up a guillotine! Strong's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Pintos is holding on here and Strong must be using up a lot of energy. Pintos has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Strong gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
