Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Steel Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Steel Penn. Those never looked like landing.
Steel Penn works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Steel Penn connects with a single shot there.
Hughes staying out of range there.
Hughes drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Steel Penn defends it well.
Good work by Steel Penn as he checks the leg kick.
Steel Penn thinks about countering with a head kick.
Hughes moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Hughes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Steel Penn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hughes blocks a head kick by Steel Penn.
Steel Penn swinging wildly here.
Steel Penn throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hughes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Steel Penn to the mat! Steel Penn manages to get full guard.
Hughes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Steel Penn has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Steel Penn working for submissions but it's allowed Hughes to get to half guard.

Hughes prevents Steel Penn from improving his position.
Steel Penn is trying to maintain the position but Hughes is very close to passing his half guard.
Steel Penn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Steel Penn.
Hughes wants to control from the top but Steel Penn keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes is sitting in close to Steel Penn's body. Steel Penn has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hughes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hughes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Steel Penn.
