Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Niten Dōraku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhengtao Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dōraku's entrance music is Ides Of Light - Jucifer. A fine choice. Zhengtao Wei has the eye of the tiger tonight.

With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zhengtao Wei!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Dōraku misses.
Wei throws a predictable looking body shot
and Dōraku counters with a left and a right that stings Wei.

It looks like Zhengtao Wei has been cut.
Both fighters circling a little - Wei finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Dōraku throws a series of punches but Wei avoids them all with ease.

Dōraku lands a jab to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dōraku tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wei paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fighters circling - Dōraku throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wei takes one to the side of the head.
Wei tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dōraku sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wei somewhat.

Wei ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dōraku moves away.

Dōraku will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wei looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Dōraku chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wei can pounce on him.

Wei comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Dōraku takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Wei jabs Dōraku right on the nose. Dōraku blinks but takes it well.

Wei is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Dōraku rather than just go for the knockout.

Dōraku throws a series of punches but Wei avoids them all with ease.

Dōraku gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wei won't allow Dōraku to sweep him here.
Wei tries to free his leg and advance position but Dōraku is retaining full guard.

Dōraku wants to get up but he can't break Wei's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Wei looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dōraku is one step ahead there.

Wei escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dōraku gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dōraku wants to stand but Wei has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dōraku is pushing down on Wei's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wei is fighting to maintain full guard but Dōraku has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wei tries to roll over but Dōraku keeps him under control.

Dōraku stands up and beckons Wei to join him on the feet.
A slow jab from Wei misses its intended target.
Dōraku dodges the punch combination from Wei.
Dōraku looks to land a right hand but Wei moved out of range.
Dōraku scores with a crisp jab that stopped Wei in his tracks.
Wei scores with a head kick. Dōraku tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Wei shoots for a double leg takedown but Dōraku sprawls well. He's pushed Wei's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Niten Dōraku has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zhengtao Wei.
A nice inside leg kick there by Wei. That's going to slow Dōraku down.

Wei throws a looping overhand right but Dōraku ducks down to avoid it.
Dōraku closes the distance but Wei moves to the side
and Wei connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wei shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dōraku as he avoids it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A close round but Zhengtao Wei will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wei goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Zhengtao Wei seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Dōraku throws the left hand but Wei avoids the punch easily.
Dōraku throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dōraku moves in looking to clinch but Wei pushes him off.
Dōraku lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wei backs up against the cage.
Dōraku slips a jab and a cross from Wei.
Dōraku lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wei circles away quickly and effectively.
Wei looks to score with a jab to the body but Dōraku is just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Wei, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dōraku moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Wei uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dōraku.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wei shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
