PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baby Squatch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Baby Squatch !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ringo sizes up Squatch with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Ringo closes the distance and clinches.
Squatch definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Squatch is pressed up against the cage. Ringo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Squatch down to the mat. Squatch avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Squatch tries to keep at a distance but Ringo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ringo lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Squatch backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ringo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Squatch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ringo tries to avoid it but Squatch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ringo to the ground. Ringo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Baby Squatch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Ringo.

Ringo closes the distance and clinches.

Ringo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Squatch explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Squatch scores with a one two! Ringo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Squatch is trying to ground and pound but Ringo uses the momentary lack of control by Squatch to regain half guard.

Squatch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ringo keeps working.
Squatch tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ringo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Squatch prevents Ringo from improving his position.

Squatch is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ringo pushes Squatch off looking to stand but Squatch dives back in and keeps control.
Squatch seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Squatch is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ringo defends it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Squatch not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Squatch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Squatch trying to control the action but Ringo is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ringo is pressing down on Squatch 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Squatch is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Squatch looking to sit in guard and control but Ringo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Squatch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ringo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ringo! But no joy.
We've been informed that Ringo has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Ringo goes for a double leg but Squatch avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Squatch continues to drive forward.

Ringo is trying to drag Squatch to the mat but Squatch just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Squatch manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Ringo has Squatch pressed against the cage, preventing Squatch from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Squatch wants to stand but Ringo is controlling the position.
Squatch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ringo manages to get himself to full guard.

Ringo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Squatch defends well.

Squatch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ringo is looking to stand up but Squatch isn't so interested in that idea.
Squatch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ringo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ringo manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Squatch keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Ringo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Squatch is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Johnny Ringo.
I think Ringo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
