Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rubin Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erick Clap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clap has chosen Burn it to the ground as his entrance music. Rubin Carter could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Erick Clap's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rubin Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, Erick Clap!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clap misses with a leg kick

and Carter counters by moving into the clinch.
Clap has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Clap.
Clap pushes Carter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Carter goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Clap successfully pulls guard.

Clap working for a triangle but Carter defends it easily.
Clap can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carter controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clap looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Clap pulls Carter in close to his closed guard and prevents Carter from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

and Carter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Clap feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Carter's calf.
Clap rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Clap.
Clap throws a looping overhand right but Carter ducks down to avoid it.
As Clap looks to move away, Carter throws a big counter combo but Clap just gets out of the way.
Clap throws a leg kick that is checked
enabling Carter to counter with a crisp jab.
Clap walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Carter checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Clap misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Carter.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carter. Clap does a little dance to reset his feet.
Clap changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Carter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

It looked like Carter was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Clap.
Erick Clap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rubin Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Carter checks a leg kick.

Carter went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Carter is looking to clinch but Clap is avoiding it.
Carter looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Carter ducks under a wild hook from Clap.
Carter seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Carter avoids a kick to the body.
Clap will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Clap lands with an overhand left.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Clap closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard.
My spies in River's Edge Gym inform me that Clap has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Clap's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Clap's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clap clinches up with Carter and pushes him back against the cage.
Carter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Carter tries to work over Clap's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Clap looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Clap misses with a hook to the ribs.
Clap jumps guard but Carter stands there with Clap around his waist. Clap gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Clap has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carter effectively controlling the action here.

Carter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Clap defends well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carter is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Clap presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Erick Clap showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Clap has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Carter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Clap walks away with a smile on his face. Carter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Clap can't find room to land a body shot as Carter controls the action.
Clap lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Carter or not.

Carter is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Clap to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rubin Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Carter, as that shot connected.
Clap throws a jab when Carter was well out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Carter on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Clap lands with a thumping leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Clap circles away from the clinch attempt.
Clap stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Clap paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rubin Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
