The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffey Jr jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Tuh attempts a counter takedown but Griffey Jr avoids it well and moves away.
Tuh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Griffey Jr is fending him off so far but Tuh persists. Nope, Griffey Jr circles away and we're back to standing.
Griffey Jr ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Griffey Jr lands with a hook. Tuh tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Griffey Jr throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've been told by Tuh's head coaches at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Griffey Jr is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Tuh had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Griffey Jr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tuh.
Tuh moves forwards but Griffey Jr connects with a nice, crisp jab.

This has been an exciting period of action!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Griffey Jr holds on and takes a little breather.
Tuh is pushing down on Griffey Jr's leg trying to pass to half guard. Griffey Jr is fighting to maintain full guard but Tuh has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tuh seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tuh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Griffey Jr defends it well.

Tuh is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Griffey Jr is just riding it out for now. Tuh eventually gives up the hold.

Tuh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Griffey Jr lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
