Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Gentry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Ringo has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Edwin Gentry's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwin Gentry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ringo closes the distance and clinches.
Gentry really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Ringo scores with a shot to the side of Gentry's head.


It looks like Edwin Gentry has been cut.

Ringo has hold of one of Gentry's legs. Gentry is fighting the takedown attempt but Ringo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Gentry has momentary wrist control but Ringo slips an elbow through the middle.
Gentry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ringo on the ground.

Ringo gets to his feet - Gentry follows without any prompting.
Gentry throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ringo on the side of the head.

Ringo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ringo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ringo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gentry is trying to keep Ringo in close.
Ringo scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Gentry could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gentry throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Ringo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gentry controls Ringo momentarily but Ringo frees himself.
Ringo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ringo lands a couple of digs.
Ringo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gentry's guard.
Gentry won't allow Ringo to pass to mount.
Gentry might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ringo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gentry is just riding it out for now. Ringo eventually gives up the hold.
Ringo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gentry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ringo content to control rather than advance.
Ringo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Ringo controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Ringo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gentry tries to lock up and control but Ringo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ringo get's back to his feet.

Ringo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gentry tries to buck Ringo off but Ringo is having none of it.
Gentry can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Ringo has control of an arm but Gentry manages to advance to Ringo's back!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ringo can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ringo is still trying to improve position.
Ringo trying to get back to his feet but Gentry is in full control for now.
Gentry gets his hands free as Ringo looks to control.

Ringo is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Johnny Ringo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ringo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gentry, pushing him back against the cage.

Ringo lands a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ringo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ringo wants to control from the top but Gentry keeps moving.
Ringo scoring with punches to the head and body.
Gentry trying to strike off his back.
Ringo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gentry's guard.
Ringo prevents Gentry from standing back up.

Gentry is trying to control Ringo's posture. Ringo takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Gentry! Ringo is rotating here... this could be the end... Gentry is out! Ringo has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Johnny Ringo!
Our winner, Johnny Ringo, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
